Free bus travel for ages 5–15 during August
Swindon Borough Council’s Summer in Swindon page states that children aged 5 to 15 can travel free on local bus services in England, including Swindon, during August.

Coate Water, splash play and green spaces
Coate Water Splash Park is listed as a free outdoor water-play area. The Council also recommends local country parks, woodlands and open spaces for walks, picnics, nature trails and simple family scavenger hunts.

Reading & culture
Libraries and low-cost museum visits
- Swindon libraries are taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge, encouraging children to read six books and collect rewards.
- STEAM’s Kids for a Quid offer runs to 31 August for children aged 3–15 with a full-paying adult.
- Lydiard House Museum’s £1 child offer runs to 30 August with a full-paying adult.
- Museum & Art Swindon has published free creative drop-in activity dates through 26 August.

Holiday Activities and Food programme
The HAF programme provides funded holiday-club activity and food for eligible children. Swindon’s published summer guidance says schools contact eligible families directly; the Council’s programme information should be used for current eligibility and booking arrangements.

Established routes if the holidays are putting pressure on the household
The Council’s summer page brings together Welcome Spaces and Community Hubs, Citizens Advice financial wellbeing support, childcare-cost information, the Crisis and Resilience Fund, affordable food clubs and other food-support routes.
- Park Library Community Hub is listed as open 10am–2pm, Monday to Friday.
- Affordable food clubs include Haven Pantry, Parks Pantry and Penhill Pantry.
- Gorse Hill Baptist Church Community Fridge is listed as offering free surplus food without a referral.
- For urgent food-access concerns, the Council directs residents to Citizens Advice Swindon for guidance and, where appropriate, referrals to further support.
